about
Awhile ago, SawdEye wound up dropping Boxcutter onto the unsuspecting public, the first single from his hotly anticipated MAUZNER, due out a week from when this was posted. It racked up plays on SawdEye's MyFace profile and received a considerable amount of acclaim. Now, of course, is the polar opposite. "Displeasure!" is a driving rock number with a massively fuzzed out bass and lots of distorted screaming. It's unlike anything SawdEye has released previously and makes for a helluva song.
This time 'round, some delicious new B-sides were added as well. "The Sex Just Isn't the Same" was recorded during the MAUZNER sessions, but, as SawdEye says, "it just didn't turn out the way I was envisioning it." Quite different is "Oh Oh", a song recorded months later after production on MAUZNER wrapped. After helping install a friends home studio, SawdEye showed said friend how to operate the equipment, and recorded this acoustic Death Cab-styled number on the fly, making for a surprisingly well-rounded result. Rounding off things is "The Worst Song Ever Written", a very very early acoustic demo of what would ultimately become "Displeasure!" Recorded inbetween takes for a Corresponding Handpieces Christmas song (that was ultimately song), it was really just the sound of SawdEye letting off some steam, but gravitating back to the chord change so much, he eventually turned it into the hard-driving second single.
