about
For a while, it seemed like it wasn't going to happen.
Back in May, SawdEye released "Social Amnesia" as the final single from MAUZNER, his second full-length album. Though much was made of the disc's leap forwards in production and songwriting, it was still just another SawdEye record in the eyes of some, which, despite featuring acclaimed songs like the thundering rock number "Displeasure!", was a fair assessment.
"Unrequited", meanwhile, is a whole different beast. Clean and focused where MAUZNER meandered, this electric barn-stormer showcased an anger and fury previously unseen in SawdEye's work, boding well for its parent album The Soft Dive Into Oblivion.
Though many of the secrets surrounding Soft Dive remain hush-hush, these two exclusive B-sides give insight into the new directions SawdEye is heading, as the exuberent rock of the L.A.-biting "Walking on Canvas" is preceeded by the jam-like, My Morning Jacket-affected "14", a nearly seven-minute epic that, sadly, was cut from the album's final track listing. They are preserved here, though, in their unfiltered glory. SawdEye encourages all to enjoy.
